Team tracking is an opt-in reporting mode, selected by the world or server owner. It can list your server as a team, together with its progression tier and players, and contributes to community statistics. In versions with the reporting choice it replaces basic statistics; the two modes are not sent at the same time. An existing team opt-in is carried over when a world is migrated.
How to participate
- Use a recognized official release of Extra Nerf to appear in the public team list. Valid reports from other builds are stored and can contribute to aggregate statistics, but their teams are not listed.
- Inform your players that team tracking is enabled, that their Minecraft usernames may be displayed publicly, and that they have the right to object (see Questions and removal). In versions with the updated notices, the mod informs players already online when tracking is enabled and players who join while it is on. Older versions may not notify players who were already online and may not mention the right to object.
- As an operator or singleplayer world owner, choose team tracking in the reporting window, or run
/extranerfteam onin game. From the server console, useextranerfteam on <player>with the name of an online player. - An eligible team may appear in the Teams online list after the server starts reporting, usually within half an hour, and remain there while the server keeps reporting every 15 minutes.
The team is named after its leader, for example Kuba's team. In game, the player running the command is the leader unless they specify another online player. The console must specify an online player. Running the command again selects the player named in the command, or the in-game sender when no player is named, as the new leader. Some older versions select the first online player for console commands and ignore any name supplied.
/extranerfteam status shows the current state and /extranerfteam off turns team tracking off. In versions with the reporting choice, it is saved in the world and choosing basic statistics also turns team tracking off.
What the mod sends
While team tracking is on, the game server sends the first report after about 10 minutes and later reports every 15 minutes. Each report contains:
- Team ID: a random identifier created the first time team tracking is turned on and then kept in the world. It does not change when you turn team tracking off and on again.
- Team leader: the Minecraft UUID and name of the player the team is named after.
- Progression tier: the highest world progression tier currently available, calculated locally.
- World type: whether the world is played in singleplayer (on an integrated server) or on a dedicated server.
- Players: the Minecraft UUID and name of up to 256 players who are online when the report is made.
- Build verification: an optional randomized cryptographic proof used to recognize known official releases. The file hash itself is not sent.
Some releases also include a temporary server-run ID and a separate player count in team reports. The service now ignores those two fields; records saved before this change follow the session retention rules in the privacy policy.
The service also stores an approximate country code, the recognized mod version when available, and a build classification with the team. IP addresses may be processed for network security, abuse prevention and rate limiting; they are not stored as part of team records.
Minecraft Profile Verification
We use Mojang's public Minecraft profile service to verify the current username associated with a team leader's UUID. This involves sending the UUID to Mojang from our server, not from the player's game client.
The verification result and current username are retained while needed for teams and removed during scheduled cleanup when no retained team uses that leader.
What this website shows
The Teams online list may show eligible teams that reported within the last twenty minutes or so: their names, progression tiers and players. Players who appear in a team's latest report are labelled online. The others are players previously seen on that server in the last seven days: team tracking cannot tell members of a team from visitors, so anyone who was online during a report can be listed. A singleplayer world with one player is shown as SOLO without a player list. The team ID and all UUIDs are never published.
Purposes and legal basis
Where the information is personal data, the basis for team tracking is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: showing the community which teams are playing, how far they have progressed and who plays in them, and recognizing teams over time. The list is public, so Minecraft usernames are disclosed to anyone who opens this website. Team tracking is optional, it is not required to play or use the mod, and it is not used for advertising or automated decisions about people.
You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to this processing. If you object, we remove the entry for your Minecraft account unless an applicable exception permits keeping it. Your other rights and how to complain are described in the privacy policy.
How long data is kept
The server stores the team, its leader and its players. These are three different things:
- Turning team tracking off stops new reports, and the team leaves the public list within about twenty minutes. The stored data is not deleted at that moment.
- Deleting a team: a team, together with its leader's UUID and name, is deleted automatically once it has not reported for one year, or earlier on request.
- Deleting a player: players other than the leader are kept and shown for seven days after they were last reported and are then deleted, or earlier on request, without involving the operator of the server.
Questions and removal
In versions with the reporting choice, the team ID is in gtnhextranerf-team-id.txt in the world's folder, including after tracking is turned off. To request deletion of the stored data, the operator can email the ID to the contact address in the privacy policy. Older versions show the ID in the command output.
Anyone can ask for a team or a single Minecraft account to be removed from the list and from the stored data, and does not need the server operator for it. Use the contact details in the privacy policy. Removal requests may require verification of team ownership or Minecraft account ownership. A verified removal of an account applies to every team: we keep only the account's UUID, so that it is not stored or shown again, and a team led by that account is shown without a name. Your rights and the other ways we process personal data are described in the privacy policy.
